Ado About Nothing

An open-air production
presented at Pipers Corner School,
Lane, Great Kingshill, HP15 6LP
on 16th, 17th, 18th (2 performances), and 22nd, 23rd, 24th,
25th May 2019.
||Much Ado About Nothing is
Shakespeare's most frequently performed comedy; packed with intrigue, double
crossing, traditional gulling, scintillating wit and with plenty of laughter,
it is the perfect introduction to Shakespeare.
It is one of his later plays and as such audiences will recognise
situations and sub-plots to be found elsewhere in his work. Its themes also
foreshadow some of those in the great tragedies, in particular concepts of
honour and deception, jealousy and its consequences, love gained and love lost.
The two central characters, Beatrice and Benedick have delighted audiences with
their verbal sparring since the play was first performed, indeed on more than a
few occasions the play was simply titled 'Beatrice and Benedick'. But to
lighten the mix there is also sparkling dialogue and earthy humour and in the
end the darkness of near tragedy is averted and the play ends in dancing and
