Our May 2019 production will be...
Much Ado About Nothing
By William Shakespeare
An open-air production presented at Pipers Corner School,
Pipers Lane, Great Kingshill, HP15 6LP
on 16th, 17th, 18th (2 performances), and 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th May 2019.
Much Ado About Nothing is Shakespeare's most frequently performed comedy; packed with intrigue, double crossing, traditional gulling, scintillating wit and with plenty of laughter, it is the perfect introduction to Shakespeare.
It is one of his later plays and as such audiences will recognise situations and sub-plots to be found elsewhere in his work. Its themes also foreshadow some of those in the great tragedies, in particular concepts of honour and deception, jealousy and its consequences, love gained and love lost. The two central characters, Beatrice and Benedick have delighted audiences with their verbal sparring since the play was first performed, indeed on more than a few occasions the play was simply titled 'Beatrice and Benedick'. But to lighten the mix there is also sparkling dialogue and earthy humour and in the end the darkness of near tragedy is averted and the play ends in dancing and laughter.
Much Ado

Our October 2019 production will be...
Hangmen
By Martin McDonagh
The Lancaster Arts Centre, Wycombe Abbey School
Thursday 31st Oct, Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd November 2019 at 8.00pm

A whole new meaning to ‘The Swinging Sixties’
What does the second best hangman do on the day they’ve abolished hanging? How will he cope with NOT being regarded as the best hangman in England? What will he do when a stranger lurks in his pub, putting doubt on the last hanging that he performed?
Fourways is proud to be presenting the best new play award winning black comedy ‘Hangmen’, a cracking comic thriller, by Martin McDonagh, author of ‘In Bruges’ and the Oscar winning ‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri’.
Perhaps the most line-by-line funny play seen in years... Daily Telegraph
A savagely black comedy... Guardian
Martin McDonagh has not invented black comedy but is certainly perfecting it… The Times
This amateur production is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French Limited.

Supported by Wycombe District Council.
