Our February 2019 production will be...
Whose Life Is It Anyway?
By Brian Clark
Presented at The Lancaster Theatre, Wycombe Abbey School
on 21st, 22nd, 23rd February 2019 at 8:00pm
This thought-provoking play by Brian Clark explores issues that are as relevant today as when it was first staged in 1978. Set in a hospital room, the action revolves around Ken Harrison, a sculptor by profession, who was paralysed from the neck down in a car accident and is determined to be allowed to die. Clark presents arguments both in favour of and opposing euthanasia and to what extent government should be allowed to interfere in the life of a private citizen. In portraying Ken as an intelligent man with a useless body, he leaves us with conflicting feelings about his desire to end his life.
It won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Play.

This production is supported by Wycombe District Council.

Our May 2019 production will be...
Much Ado About Nothing
By William Shakespeare
An open-air production presented at Pipers Corner School
on 16, 17, 18, (2 performances), and 22, 23, 24, 25, May 2019.
Much Ado About Nothing is Shakespeare's most frequently performed comedy; packed with intrigue, double crossing, traditional gulling, scintillating wit and with plenty of laughter, it is the perfect introduction to Shakespeare.
It is one of his later plays and as such audiences will recognise situations and sub-plots to be found elsewhere in his work. Its themes also foreshadow some of those in the great tragedies, in particular concepts of honour and deception, jealousy and its consequences, love gained and love lost. The two central characters, Beatrice and Benedick have delighted audiences with their verbal sparring since the play was first performed, indeed on more than a few occasions the play was simply titled 'Beatrice and Benedick'. But to lighten the mix there is also sparkling dialogue and earthy humour and in the end the darkness of near tragedy is averted and the play ends in dancing and laughter.
Much Ado

at the Wesley Methodist Church Hall, Priory Road, High Wycombe HP11 1SX
